Nottingham Forest appear to be going above and beyond in their search for fresh players ahead of the new season.
The Reds have been fairly active thus far, with five new players joining the club ahead of the new season.
One of them, Marko Stamenic, has gone on loan to Olympiacos, while the other four are all in Spain for pre-season training.
Another player has been linked with Forest: Alexis Saelemaekers is coveted by a number of Premier League clubs.
Interest in the Belgian winger is very high, and a report suggests that clubs may begin to make bids for him soon.
AC Milan is awaiting offers for Forest-linked Alexis Saelemaekers.
It appears that things will heat up with the winger, and it might happen as early as this week.
Leicester appear to be in pole position after last week’s claims that they will make the first bid.
However, Calcio Mercato reports that AC Milan expects to receive offers for Saelemaekers this week.
The article also claims that the Reds will have to pay £17 million to sign the 25-year-old this summer.
Saelemaekers is judged surplus to needs at the San Siro, and Bologna, where he spent last season on loan, are not interested in a permanent deal.
The winger is currently looking for a new club and has received a lot of interest from the Premier League, including Leicester, Forest, Ipswich, and West Ham.
Forest may miss out on Saelemaekers.
Although the athlete fits the characteristics of a player who may potentially thrill the Forest fan base, it’s difficult to envision the club achieving this.
This is another link to a right-footed winger, since Forest also has Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga.
Although wingers are the order of the day in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, signing a left-footed player would make more sense.
Saelemaekers does not match that bill, and Leicester, who are now dominating the race, may be a better option for the Belgian.
If Forest signed Saelemaekers, it would be perceived positively, but he does not feel like the right fit for the club right now.
