Jayden Bogle is scheduled to join Leeds United’s squad in Germany for their pre-season training camp, having joined the Whites from Championship rival Sheffield United.
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has expressed his disappointment at losing Jayden Bogle to Leeds United. The attacking right-back moved to Elland Road Friday night for an unknown sum, believed to be about £5 million.
Bogle has signed a four-year contract and becomes United’s fourth summer acquisition as the club looks to improve on last season’s Championship play-off final defeat. Prior to Bogle’s departure, Wilder stated: “Yeah, he certainly has, so that was a disappointing one to lose, but we move on.” He ran his contract down, so this is the difficult part, the position that teams are put in.
“In an ideal scenario, you don’t want players to run down their contracts, but I can’t put a gun to his head and a pen in his hand and force him to sign a contract with Sheffield United.
“He made it clear to me this week that he sees his future elsewhere, specifically at Leeds United, and we wish him the best. When players do this, they are aiming to achieve the best price for the football team.”
The 23-year-old played a key role in the Blades’ promotion back to the English top division in 2022/23 season. Bogle, who formerly played for Derby County, appeared in 36 games last season and scored three goals.
Wilder stated: “I brought Jayden in (to the football club), and I believe it was one of the best deals we did with him and Max Lowe for under £4 million at the time.” He has played in the Premier League and for a promotion-winning squad. Hopefully, Sheffield United fans will not look down on him and remember him negatively because he has done well for us and was a pleasure to work with. I remarked several times last year that he was a fantastic performer for us.”
