According to The Express, Tottenham Hotspur could aim to sign Brighton and Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson in a spectacular exchange deal that includes Bryan Gil.
After selling Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last summer, it appears that the North London club has been looking for a new striker to replace him.
Several centre-forwards, like Ivan Toney and Santiago Giménez, have recently been linked with a move to the newly reconstructed White Hart Lane, but Ferguson is also said to be on Ange Postecoglou’s want list.
However, Brighton have stated unequivocally that they have no intention of allowing the teenager to leave the club, but this may alter if they get an offer of more than £115 million. So the Lilywhites will have to break the money to bring the striker to the newly renovated White Hart Lane.
It has recently been claimed that Brighton are interested in signing Gil, and they have already made contact with Tottenham to sign the winger on loan before the conclusion of the winter season.
Ferguson to Tottenham.
According to The Express, Postecoglou’s side may attempt to include the Spaniard in a part-exchange deal to sign Ferguson, and the deal may contain a buy clause or obligation to buy option to make the move permanent next summer.
Ferguson is a highly skilled footballer who has shown glimpses of his abilities in the Premier League recently. However, the striker is still young and has yet to play a full season as a regular starter for Brighton.
So, while the 19-year-old isn’t quite ready to lead the line for a large club like Tottenham, the striker would be an excellent signing for Postecoglou’s team in the long run if he was signed this year.
However, if Brighton maintains their whopping £115 million estimate, Tottenham will have a very difficult time signing Ferguson. However, it would be intriguing to see whether Tottenham decides to make a formal attempt to recruit the kid next summer to strengthen their frontline.
