Leeds United have identified an AC Milan player as a potential left-back target for the summer.
The Whites may be looking for reinforcements at that position, depending on the future of Junior Firpo, who is sought elsewhere.
Firpo is apparently in talks to return to Real Betis and has already accepted personal terms ahead of the move, with the 27-year-old evidently eager to depart.
Daniel Farke would now have only one recognised full-back in his senior team, having previously lost Connor Roberts, Archie Gray, Jamie Shackleton, and Luke Ayling.
Sam Byram can cover on both sides, but he can’t be in two locations at once and cannot be counted on to play every week.
Leeds are challenging Watford for AC Milan defender Fode Ballo-Toure.
According to reports earlier today, Leeds have identified Spain-born Ireland U21 star Anselmo MacNulty as a potential replacement for Firpo, but he is not the only one on the list.
According to Foot Mercato, Leeds are also keeping an eye on AC Milan’s Fode Ballo-Toure, who was loaned out to Fulham last season.
Ballo-Toure only made eight appearances in all competitions at Craven Cottage, as he battled to unseat first-choice Antonee Robinson.
However, he has plenty of experience under his belt from periods at Milan and AS Monaco, and Leeds is one of the clubs interested in signing him.
Ballo-Toure is claimed to have already turned down the opportunity to join Turkish club Besiktas in order to pursue a move to one of the other clubs interested.
Watford, Sevilla, and Celta Vigo are said to be the other three clubs keeping a watch on how his situation develops.
Who is Leeds’ aim, Fode Ballo-Toure?
Ballo-Toure is a comparable replacement for Firpo in terms of experience and position.
At 27, he is the same age as him and has spent his whole career in top-tier leagues, the most of which was spent at AS Monaco and Lille in Ligue 1.
Ballo-Toure has 16 international caps for Senegal and would undoubtedly be a good addition to Leeds’ Championship squad.
However, with competition from clubs such as Sevilla, it may be tough to complete the transaction.
