Glen Kamara is unlikely to be Leeds United’s final player to be moved, since another key player under Daniel Farke has agreed to terms with a new club, and Leeds has identified a successor.
Kamara signed a four-year contract with Rennes this week, earning an estimated £8.5 million. The 59-time Finland international leaves after just a year at Elland Road, becoming the club’s sixth sale.
He joins Archie Gray, Kris Klaesson, Charlie Cresswell, Diego Llorente, and Marc Roca in leaving the club for pastures new. The 49ers have received approximately £60 million for the transfer of the six players.
Others are expected to follow, as Leeds continues to focus on outgoings before entering. Willy Gnonto is thought to be attracting interest from eleven clubs, while Rasmus Kristensen is close to joining Frankfurt on loan.
Leeds assist machine is expected to join Kamara in leaving the club.
Junior Firpo is emerging as the most likely contender to depart Leeds next. The left-back was fantastic on Leeds’ left flank, but according to reports, Firpo has now agreed personal terms with Real Betis.
However, with his contract expiring next summer, Leeds has a choice. Sell this summer or risk losing him for free in 12 months. His former club Real Betis has now agreed to terms with Firpo, joining Roca and Llorente.
Leeds will be without a left-footer on the left side of defence, as Sam Byram is the only other full-back on the books. However, Estadio Deportivo claims Leeds have found a ‘great’ substitute.
Anselmo MacNulty has already been linked with a Leeds switch.
According to the Spanish source, Leeds have named Anselmo MacNulty, a 21-year-old Spain-born Ireland U21 standout, as his replacement. Ironically, the player stayed in Betis’ academy until 2019 and is still on their radar.
According to the report, Leeds will only approve the transfer of Firpo provided they can get the PEC Zwolle star through the door at Elland Road. He played as a centre-back or left-back last season and contributed four goals in 32 games.
It’s unclear how much Zwolle might want for their left-footed star, although MacNulty has previously been linked with Leeds this summer. A deal for Firpo will therefore be determined by Leeds’ ability to sign MacNulty.
