Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news, as the Reds look to strengthen Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
Striker Chuba Akpom has hinted that he would be open to leaving Ajax this summer, citing reported interest from Nottingham Forest.
The Reds are in need of more firepower as they look to progress under Nuno Espirito Santo this coming season. The Portuguese head coach specifically wants more wide options but adding another forward before the window closes would not go amiss.
Forest were linked with Akpom during the January window but were unable to do a deal with Ajax. However, according to allnigeriasoccer.com, they have their eye on the 28-year-old once again.
And, with rumors surrounding his future returning, the forward has stated he may consider moving on. Akpom has stated that he is keen for regular game time.
“What I’ve learnt over the course of my career is to simply keep focusing on football. “If you start thinking about things off the field, you get distracted,” he told NOS (via Dutch media outlet Soccer News).
“I’m not sure if I’ll be here next week or at the end of the transfer window, but every day I come to the club, I practice as if I’ll be here all season. I don’t think I can stay on the bench as a second striker for another year. If I participate in more events this year, I’d prefer to stay here. If not, it may be time to investigate further. “We’ll see.”
Akpom moved to Ajax from Middlesbrough 12 months ago. He was primarily relegated to a substitute role last season, although he still scored 11 league goals in 25 appearances.
Forest have Taiwo Awoniyi and Chris Wood as standout striker options as they prepare for the 2024/25 Premier League season. So far this summer, the Reds have signed four players: goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, defender Eric da Silva Moreira, midfielder Elliot Anderson, and Marko Stamenic, who was promptly loaned to Olympiacos.
