Graham Smyth releases a new Gnonto exit update at Leeds amid transfer interest

According to Graham Smyth, Leeds United is aware of interest in Wilfried Gnonto but insists that nothing further has developed this summer.

According to a Yorkshire Evening Post journalist, Everton are still fans of the Italian winger, having attempted to recruit him last year, and would like to bring him to Goodison Park.

According to Fabrizio Romano (15 July), the 20-year-old was interested in moving to Merseyside this summer, and conversations were already underway to determine the terms of a potential transaction.

Will Leeds United sell Wilfried Gnonto this summer, given Everton’s interest?

Leeds United have claimed that Everton’s interest in Gnonto has not moved beyond first appreciation, implying that the Whites do not expect the Italian winger to leave Elland Road soon.

With Archie Gray headed to Tottenham for a large amount and Glen Kamara likely to join Rennes, Daniel Farke’s team is under no pressure to sell its best players because they have already generated some much-needed monies to balance the books.

If the proper offer comes in for Gnonto, Leeds may be inclined to approve the sale. However, such an offer has not yet been made, and until it is and an agreement is reached, the 20-year-old will remain a Leeds United player.

Hopefully, the Whites will do everything possible to keep the Italian international beyond the start of the Championship season, although Farke’s side will be keen to prevent a repeat of last year’s predicament.

It will be intriguing to see how Everton’s interest grows during the transfer window.

Things can change quickly at this point in the summer, so it wouldn’t be surprising to receive an offer sooner rather than later.
