Nottingham Forest are speeding up their efforts to attract new players and hope to clinch one deal today.
The Reds have signed four players in the summer transfer window.
Marko Stamenic was the first to sign, however he promptly joined Olympiacos on loan for the 2024/25 season.
Eric da Silva Moreira was the next player through the door, and Paul Taylor commended him for his performance in Saturday’s pre-season game against Chesterfield.
Elliot Anderson then arrived from Newcastle for a cost estimated to be about £15 million, and he also appeared over the weekend.
Next in was big goalkeeper Carlos Miguel, and Nuno Espirito Santo will try to complete the roster as soon as possible.
Nottingham Forest hopes to complete signings today.
Things appear to be heating up at the City Ground, and a journalist has stated that one transaction might be completed today.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Forest hope to complete a deal to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic today.
He reports that a deal is close, with Forest hoping to sign a defender who has previously been connected with Tottenham and Newcastle.
Di Marzio believes the player is close to joining Forest in a deal for around £13 million plus a number of add-ons.
The Reds are looking for another defender after selling Moussa Niakhate to Lyon for around £27 million.
Milenkovic has been at Fiorentina for seven years, guiding the club to consecutive UEFA Conference League finals.
Earlier in his career, he was compared to Nemanja Vidic, and Milenkovic has recently taken over the Serbia legend’s role on the world scene.
Forest have done great to land the promising defender.
A profile report from 90Min in 2021 described the defender as ‘excellent’, and Forest appear to be getting good value for money here.
Milenkovic has being pursued by several Premier League clubs, but it appears that Forest will win the race.
The beauty of this agreement is that Forest has not screwed about, and it appears that it will be finalized swiftly.
These linkages surfaced over the weekend, and Milenkovic may be able to join his colleagues in Spain this week.
Milenkovic has made 264 appearances for Fiorentina and 57 for his country.
Keep an eye on this one, because Forest may have struck gold with Milenkovic.
