Leeds United are already in full swing during the summer transfer window, having signed three new players in the last two weeks.
The Whites made their first signing of the summer at the beginning of July, signing Joe Rodon on a permanent basis from Tottenham Hotspur.
Leeds newcomer Joe Rothwell was hailed on his Elland Road loan swap.
The 29-year-old took to Instagram to share his delight at collaborating with the Elland Road firm.
“Absolutely over the moon to get this over the line,” he stated in an email. “Leeds United as a club speaks for itself; I didn’t need to be convinced to join here.
“Can’t wait to get started and hopefully get this club back to where they belong.”
A number of his colleagues, including Barry Douglas, Jesse Lingard, and fellow Cherries player Jaidon Anthony, wished him well.
Douglas used three heart-eyed emojis, Lingard used “good luck my bro”, and Anthony used “enjoy brother”.
Douglas and Rothwell played together at Blackburn Rovers, sharing the pitch 27 times in 2020/21.
Meanwhile, Lingard and Rothwell were colleagues in Manchester United’s academy, playing six games for the Under-21s in 2013/14.
Rothwell will attempt to replicate Southampton’s promotion feat at Leeds.
Rothwell played the first half of last season with Bournemouth before joining Southampton on loan.
He made 20 games for the Saints and scored four goals, helping the team win promotion to the Premier League at the first try.
Rothwell won Southampton’s 2023/24 Goal of the Season title with a spectacular volley into the top corner against Huddersfield Town.
That effort strike also won the Championship Goal of the Month award for February.
Rothwell will be determined to help his current loan side gain promotion.
