HITC understands that Chelsea is unhappy with Liverpool as the Reds close in on signing one of the Blues’ young players.
Liverpool and Chelsea have a history of transfers, with Fernando Torres being the most well-known example from 2011.
Daniel Sturridge, who nearly led Liverpool to the Premier League title, is another, and it appears that another name will soon join the list.
According to HITC, the Reds are likely to sign Chelsea’s younger Rio Ngumoha, but the West London side is said to be upset with the Merseyside club.
Chelsea’s feelings about the scenario
The Blues are thought to be aware of interest from several of the Premier League’s finest clubs, including Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal, with the winger turning 16 next summer.
Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid had also been keeping a close eye on the issue, but despite their interest, Chelsea were convinced that Ngumoha would remain at Stamford Bridge.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the Blues are ‘astonished’ and ‘mad’ over the trade, as they stand to lose one of their most promising assets.
Ngumoha, a skilled left winger, appeared nine times for Chelsea’s under-18s past season, netting one goal and one assist despite being only 15 years old.
It is unknown where the Englishman would fit into Liverpool’s youth system, but this is a significant coup for the Reds.
Liverpool has invaded opposition academies several times before.
In recent years, under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have plundered rival Premier League academies to supplement their own development groups.
Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho, Ben Doak, and Bobby Clark are just a few of the names that have arrived on Merseyside via other teams’ academies.
Ngumoha’s signing is a significant coup for the Reds, and the Englishman impressed the Blues in an older age group.
Chelsea is said to be ‘astonished’ that Liverpool has signed the winger, and Ngumoha might become a household name for the Reds in the coming years.
