Nottingham Forest are interested in recruiting Kelechi Iheanacho, who just left Leicester City, according to Football Insider sources.
Forest are looking for a striker this summer, but they will have competition to sign the Nigeria international.
Aston Villa has also been courting the 27-year-old, although their interest has waned recently due to Jhon Duran’s continued presence at the club.
Villa’s stance could change, however, as Football Insider reported that Chelsea had held negotiations with Duran and agreed on conditions.
Iheanacho is available on a free transfer this summer, having left the King Power Stadium at the end of June after seven years.
Nottingham Forest wants to sign a striker.
Last season, just three Premier League teams scored less goals than Nottingham, and two of them were relegated.
Iheanacho can supply that, having scored 61 goals in 232 outings for Leicester.
The striker scored five goals last season as the Foxes were promoted back to the Premier League.
With 196 appearances in England’s top division, Iheanacho has the necessary experience to play in the Premier League.
The Nigerian international isn’t Nottingham’s first target, as Football Insider reported the club was interested in signing Yankuba Minteh.
Ultimately, the Gambian international signed for Brighton on a five-year contract worth £33 million.
