So far this summer, Leeds United has made two permanent sales in Marc Roca and Archie Gray, but a third is on the way as a European club prepares a new offer.
Roca has signed a permanent contract with Spanish club Real Betis valued roughly £4 million, while Gray has joined Tottenham for £40 million. A fourth of that amount was spent on signing Joe Rodon permanently.
But that will not be the final permanent sale Leeds makes this summer. The 49ers have been hard at work determining the fate of Victor Orta’s loan army, with three yet to be resolved throughout the window.
Robin Koch and Luis Sinisterra have already signed permanent contracts, and Roca has joined them. Jack Harrison returns to Everton on loan, while Brendan Aaronson rejoins Leeds.
Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen, and Diego Llorente’s fates remain uncertain. Wober and Kristensen were at Euro 2024, but Austria and Denmark have since been eliminated.
Leeds rejected an offer from Real Betis to recruit Diego Llorente.
This week, Adam Pope revealed that Roca’s Betis had attempted to sign Llorente. However, Leeds rejected an offer for the Spain star as it became evident that a return to his loan club Roma was not going to happen.
A story from Spanish outlet Mucho Deporte offers information on Betis’ and Llorente’s stances following Leeds’ rejection of their proposal. They claim Llorente wanted a permanent move to Roma, but Roma wanted another loan.
That is why a move to Roma failed, and Betis is again interested even if the first bid was rejected. There is optimism over a deal to bring Llorente back to Spain four years after leaving to join Leeds for £18 million.
Betis is preparing a second bid for Llorente in the next few days
The report states that Llorente is keen on a move to Betis and is on contact with a number of players at the La Liga side, with Roca likely to be one. A fee between £3.4m and £4.2m is required to sign Llorente.
According to Mucho Deporte, Betis are prepared to return to Leeds with a second bid for Llorente before beginning pre-season training on Monday. Betis has Europa Conference League qualifying to deal with.
They also face Liverpool and Manchester United in preseason friendlies, and Manuel Pellegrini desperately needs a centre-back. Betis is likely to make a new bid this week, and the deal will be finalized.
