Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news: Midfielder completes summer window move from Reds to France.
The fee Nottingham Forest received from Lyon for midfielder Orel Mangala has been confirmed.
The Belgian’s transfer to the French side was announced on Tuesday, bringing to an end his two-year spell Trentside. Mangala spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon and it was always expected they would activate the option to buy included as part of the deal.
Confirming the 26-year-old’s move, the Ligue 1 outfit said they had paid €23.4m (about £20m) to secure his services. In a statement they also said the Reds have a 10 percent sell-on clause for the player.
Lyon stated that Orel Mangala, who was on loan from Nottingham Forest this winter, has now signed a contract with OL until June 30, 2028. The purchase price is £20 million (about 23.4 million euros), with Nottingham Forest additionally maintaining a 10% stake in any future financial gains from the move.

The Belgian international, who recently competed in the Euros with his national team, also scored two crucial goals against Nice and Clermont, ensuring the team’s victory both times. According to French daily L’Equipe, the transfer price is in addition to the funds Forest would earn for loaning Mangala. The borrowing charge is claimed to have been €11.7 million (approximately £10 million). As previously reported, the overall deal amounts to almost £30 million.
The money brought in represents a big profit on the £12.7 million that the Reds paid Stuttgart for Mangala in the summer of 2022. He leaves after making 53 appearances and scoring two goals for the club.
