Alisson Becker and Luis Diaz, both Liverpool players, faced battle at the Copa America on Wednesday morning.

So far this summer, the Reds’ South American foursome has been enjoying themselves in the United States.

Before Wednesday’s match, all four Liverpool players who played for their countries were almost certain to go to the quarterfinals.

Darwin Nunez has been on fire for Uruguay, which has been flawless throughout the group stage. Alexis MacAllister and Argentina have won three out of three so far.

Colombia was also hoping to keep their pristine record going into the meeting in Santa Clara. Meanwhile, Alisson and Brazil aimed to overtake Diaz and win the group themselves.

    Brazilian media gives Alisson verdict.

There was a strong incentive for Brazil to defeat Colombia and win their pool on Wednesday. Take the points, and Alisson and co. will face Panama in the round of eight.

However, if the Selecao does not win, they will have to overcome the dangerous-looking Uruguay.

In the end, Brazil was unable to complete the task. They were left to ponder their dismal draw against Costa Rica on Matchday 1, as they drew 1-1 with Colombia.

Former Liverpool transfer target Raphinha gave them an early lead, but Brazil could not maintain it. Daniel Munoz, a Crystal Palace full-back, equalised just before halftime to give Colombia the group lead.

Alisson will now have to keep Nunez out, who has been in incredible goal-scoring form for Urugayan.

Fortunately for him, the Liverpool goalkeeper was able to prevent Diaz from taking advantage of him on Wednesday. However, according to the Brazilian publication Globo, Alisson made a mistake that may have changed things.

Globo gives the 31-year-old a five-out-of-ten rating, claiming that he ‘passed the ball to Luis Diaz’, which created an opportunity for his Liverpool teammate. Fortunately for Alisson, Lucho sent the shot over the crossbar.

Aside from that, Ali appears to have done little wrong. He is stated to have made a good save on James Rodriguez, was “safe when necessary,” and was “not to blame for the goal.” Nonetheless, the Diaz incident appears to have lowered his rating somewhat.

What happens next at Copa America?

So far, Liverpool players in the United States have put on an excellent display. Arne Slot may have a different perspective, but we believe it’s fantastic that they’ve all advanced to the quarter-finals.

At least one is set to go no farther, as Alisson faces Nunez in the early hours of Sunday.

Before that, Mac Allister is the next in line. Argentina faces a difficult battle against Ecuador on Friday morning, followed by Colombia’s game against Panama on Saturday night.

If Argentina defeats Ecuador, they will be certain of reaching another final. The semi-finals feature either Canada or Venezuela.

Colombia is set to defeat Panama but will face either Brazil or Uruguay in the semi-finals.

It’s still all to play for.
