Leeds United has had a busy transfer market in recent days, with a first-team addition and a notable player leaving Elland Road.
The Whites have traded Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur, who have permitted defender Joe Rodon to join Daniel Farke’s squad permanently.
Now, on the eve of pre-season, Leeds must deal with more of their top players attracting interest from Premier League clubs.
Leeds reject Brighton’s £30 million bid for Georginio Rutter, amid interest in three other Whites players.
TBR Football understands Brighton have begun talks with Leeds about acquiring Georginio Rutter, their club’s record signing. However, the Championship club does not intend to sell.
The West Yorkshire giants lost Gray, one of their best assets, over the weekend, and now they may struggle to retain another.
TBR can tell that Brighton are interested in Rutter and have made a bid of roughly £30 million, but Leeds have rejected their initial offer.
TBR can also tell that Brighton has spoken with Leeds about Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, and Glen Kamara in recent weeks.
Leeds must do their best to maintain the team core at Elland Road.
Leeds has some challenging weeks ahead. With the club remaining in the Championship, Premier League clubs are hoping to sign its finest players.
Losing Rutter would be a significant blow to the Elland Road outfit.
While at Hoffenheim, director Alexander Rosen rated him as “one of the most promising young players in European football”.
According to Rosen, Rutter has a “unbelievable blend of athleticism, technique, speed, and an eye for goal”.
He has demonstrated these characteristics at Leeds, and it appears that there is much more to come, therefore it would be a tragedy to see him leave.
Similarly, interest in Summerville, Gnonto, and Kamara is something Leeds will have to work hard to avoid, as it has the potential to destroy their season before it even begins.
