Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven’s return from injury has been updated by Paul O Keefe.
The Dutch defender suffered a hamstring injury against Chelsea in November and has been sidelined ever since.
While initial reports indicated that he would be sidelined until February, new reports indicate that he is recovering ahead of schedule.
During his appearance at the Darts a week ago, the player stated that he will return in a couple of weeks. Manager Ange Postecoglou also provided a similar timetable for his return, suggesting that the player may be available for the United encounter.
And now, Paul O Keefe has revealed that the defender’s comeback to the first team is “imminent.” He claims that, barring any late setbacks, he may be able to play against Manchester United.
He also indicated that James Maddison is still being evaluated but will very likely play against Brentford.
He shared the following update on X:
“Micky van de Ven is set to return to the first team.” Ange will decide whether to include him in the team for Friday’s match against Manchester United, pending any late setbacks. Maddison is still weighing his options, with Brentford looking more likely than United at the moment. “Solomon is close to #THFC.”
Spurs will benefit greatly from this improvement. Micky van de Ven and James Maddison have both been outstanding for Spurs since joining in the summer, and their absence has been noticed greatly.
Spurs are only one point behind Arsenal in fourth place and six points behind Liverpool in first place.
As a result, their comeback will be a huge boost for Ange, who will want to capitalize on his fantastic form and go all the way.
