‘What I’m hearing’: Fabrizio Romano exposes Anthony Gordon’s true feelings on joining Liverpool today

Liverpool remains connected with a high-profile bid for Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon.

The Reds have been notably quiet in the transfer window, with the first signing of the Arne Slot era still to be announced.

At the time, it’s anyone’s guess who that might be. Liverpool have been connected with a variety of players, but nothing tangible has surfaced.

That began to alter on Saturday, when reports surfaced that Liverpool was in talks with Newcastle about signing Anthony Gordon.

With Newcastle seeking to make a large sale before Sunday’s Premier League PSR deadline, there are reports that Gordon might be on his way to Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano sends Anthony Gordon an update.

Talks for Gordon’s move to Liverpool were first thought to have gone down because Newcastle wanted Jarell Quansah as part of the deal.

Despite the stumbling block in negotiations, Liverpool is rumored to be interested in Gordon again.

As is customary with transfer news, Reds fans will have been waiting for an update from window specialist Fabrizio Romano.

On Saturday afternoon, Romano took to his YouTube channel to share the most up-to-date information on Liverpool and Gordon, including how the player feels about a prospective move to Anfield.

“Let me tell you that the interest of Liverpool in Anthony Gordon is absolutely genuine,” according to the journalist.

“We heard rumours about Gordon from numerous clubs; I’m told Paris Saint Germain were offered the opportunity to sign him, but they now have other goals in that position.

“Liverpool really considered that possibility,” Romano says. “They spoke with Newcastle about Anthony Gordon.

“At the moment, there is no consensus on the player’s valuation or how much Newcastle would demand, but the interest is undeniable, and what I’m hearing is that the player would be open to a transfer to Liverpool. So, it all depends on the clubs.”

    Will Liverpool sign Anthony Gordon?

Many Liverpool fans will be pleased about Gordon joining their squad this summer.

However, it is worth noting that these conversations appear to have been begun by Newcastle.

With their PSR deadline nearing, they must act soon. Liverpool have no such concerns.

As a result, we’d be amazed if the Reds complete this transaction before Sunday. Gordon appears to be quite expensive, and Liverpool will not be compelled to pay more than they want.

Having said that, this could be a rare opportunity for them to sign a homegrown player who would otherwise be unavailable.

Gordon sees himself as a lifetime Liverpool supporter who may make his dream come true by joining the Reds. Why wouldn’t he be interested?
