According to sources, Tottenham have lined up two more new additions before the end of the month to help Ange Postecoglou’s team climb the league table.
Spurs have been one of the busiest clubs during the January transfer window, with two incomings and seven outgoings in recent weeks.
Timo Werner, a former Chelsea striker, has signed on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season, while Romania international Radu Dragusin has joined from Serie A club Genoa for €30 million.
Djed Spence, Ivan Perisic, Eric Dier, Sergio Reguilon, Japhet Tanganga, and Ashley Phillips have all gone on loan until the end of the season, with Hugo Lloris joining Major League Soccer club LAFC on a permanent basis.
However, with the transfer deadline coming, Tottenham appear to be far from done, with Football Insider reporting that Spurs are ‘certain of agreeing on two additional signings this month’.
There have been suggestions today that Newcastle United are attempting to ‘hijack’ their agreement for Antonio Nusa, but Football Insider claims Spurs are still ‘in pole position’ for the Club Brugge winger.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are still in talks to sign a new midfielder and are trying hard to conclude a deal before the transfer market closes on February 1st.
Spurs have ‘prioritised signing a central midfielder this month’ and have ‘had talks for a stunning deal for Conor Gallagher’, with Manchester City player Kalvin Phillips, who now appears poised to sign for West Ham, also emerging as a possible target.
And journalist Paul Brown believes Tottenham will re-sign Gallagher before the end of the summer window, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy expected to “lowball” Chelsea for the midfielder.
“So sources at Tottenham were very keen to come out and deny that any conversations have taken place between the clubs for Conor Gallagher, but we do know that the club likes Gallagher very much. “It wouldn’t surprise me if Daniel Levy makes a lowball offer near the end of the window to test Chelsea’s resolve,” Brown told GiveMeSport.
“Because Chelsea are asking a lot of money for Conor Gallagher, and I don’t think Spurs will spend that much money on anyone this month.” But as the window closes, we’ll see how anxious Chelsea is to bring in some cash before the end of January.
“I believe that is what the Spurs’ approach may be here. I wouldn’t be shocked to see some action for Gallagher in the final few days of the window.”
