The executive director of Wrexham has chosen a Liverpool player as the club’s dream signing. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney may be taking note.
Liverpool may eventually have to take Wrexham’s transfer threat seriously. The Welsh club is rising through the leagues thanks to the support of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, and executive director Humphrey Ker has chosen a Reds player as one of his “dream signings.”
Ker will be recognized to viewers of the Welcome to Wrexham documentary. What is less well known is that he is a long-time Liverpool fan, having revealed to Front Row Soccer that he attended the 2005 Champions League final.
As a result, his use of Liverpool players as examples will not instantly raise concerns at Anfield. However, rather than selecting a completely unrealistic name like Mohamed Salah or Virgil van Dijk, the Wrexham manager chose a little more plausible transfer desire.
Surprisingly, when speaking with Sport Bible last month, Ker mentioned Wataru Endo as a dream signing for Reynolds and McElhenney. The Japan captain joined Liverpool last summer, and Wrexham’s director has been quite impressed by what he has seen.
“Who are some of my favorite players, and who would I like to see play for Wrexham? Ker stated, “I currently have a soft spot for Wataru Endo.” “Who is a wonderful articulation of Liverpool’s rage in the summer when they missed out on Caicedo and Lavia, and everything was doom and gloom.
“Then they signed Wataru Endo, and it was like, ‘Who is this guy?'” I have never heard of him. He was only 16 million pounds; what are they playing at? And he’s been one of the season’s biggest signings.
“I believe there’s a fantastic lesson there for all of us in terms of, you know, the glitz and glamour, the large price tags, and ‘what are Liverpool doing not spending 100 million on a central midfielder’.
“You must spend your money properly and identify the greatest players. I don’t know Wataru Endo from Adam, yet you can tell he has a terrific personality.
“He has a wonderful work ethic, as evidenced by the conversations, photos, and other players; they all plainly like him, and he has done an incredible job there. So, if money is no object and the gamer isn’t too concerned about going to North Wales. “I am a huge fan of his.”
Ker also noted former Liverpool player Neco Williams, whom he frequently refers to as a kind of end-game (no Marvel pun intended) acquisition for Wrexham. He mentioned his background as a local lad and Welsh international with Premier League experience.
According to Liverpool.com, Reynolds can jot down Endo in his notebook. Surprisingly, in a few years, it may not be completely improbable.
Ker jokes about Endo’s willingness to relocate to North Wales, but if he’s settled in Liverpool, it’s not a big step. And, while he still plays an important role at Anfield for the time being, he was a seasoned signing, and the Reds will most likely be willing to part ways within the next two to three seasons.
Wrexham have already pursued older players like as Ben Foster and James McClean, and Endo would be the logical next step in that strategy. Reynolds’ team will most likely need to get to at least the Championship before it becomes a viable option, but it should not be discounted out of hand.
