Brighton & Hove Albion are well-known for attracting some of football’s top young talent, and it looks they are now competing with Leeds United for another one.
The Seagulls have long been regarded by analysts, fans, and other clubs for their approach to obtaining excellent young players early on, developing them in the first team, and then selling them for a large profit.
Moises Caicedo, Yves Bissouma, Alexis MacAllister, and Marc Cucurella are all recent instances, while Leeds is all too familiar with the Ben White issue.
It is clearly a method that Leeds can learn from, and to be fair, it appears that they could make a significant profit for their players this summer.
Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto are both drawing high-dollar interest after being purchased for low costs. The challenge is to replace them while remaining strong, which Brighton has done admirably.
Leeds are challenging Brighton for forward Edmund Baidoo.
As previously stated, Summerville and Gnonto, two of Leeds’ brightest and most marketable players, are looking for other opportunities this summer.
After Leeds’ failure to earn promotion, this was unavoidable, and those on the recruitment team, along with Daniel Farke, will need to ensure they find adequate replacements if they leave.
Leeds have previously been associated with attacking players such as Callum O’Hare, Bobby De Cordova-Reid, and Couhaib Driouech, but nothing tangible has emerged.
According to Sports World Ghana, Leeds are interested in Sogndal Fotball winger Edmund Baidoo as well.
Baidoo is believed to have been’making waves’ in Norway’s second division football this season, which began in April and runs at a different time than England.
Brighton and Leeds have reportedly contacted Baidoo’s representatives, but the former is presently leading the charge.
Celtic and Club Brugge are also interested in signing the 18-year-old, who is under contract with Sogndal Fotball until 2027.
Edmund Baidoo is reportedly a Leeds target.
Baidoo is mostly a right-winger with eight goals and six assists in 17 appearances across all competitions, which has sparked attention from Brighton and Leeds.
This is his debut season in professional football, having been signed from Ghana in the winter of this year after impressing at a Sogndal training camp.
Given how fast Baidoo has settled into European football, albeit at a lower level than the Championship, it is not surprising that he is already attracting a lot of attention.
