Nottingham Forest may now have one of their players on loan for the rest of the season after a decision on his future was made.
Nuno Espirito Santo has secured Forest’s first signing of the summer window, New Zealand international Marko Stamenic from Red Star Belgrade.
However, the midfielder will not have to unpack his bag at the City Ground because an instant loan has been granted to Forest’s sister club Olympiacos.
Another player could join Stamenic on loan from the Reds for the upcoming season.
Although Forest is one of the Premier League clubs that have to move certain players this month before the PSR deadline, Evangelos Marinakis is currently attempting to unload some players to his other team.
Forest set to unload players who have yet to play for the club.
Nuno’s side plans to make signings in the coming weeks to boost the quality of the squad he took over midway through the 2023/24 season.
Carlos Miguel, a goalkeeper from Brazil, is expected to transfer to England after Forest triggered his release clause earlier this week.
However, players will have to move on if Forest are to meet the impending PSR deadline at the end of the month.
Although loans may not bring in the necessary funds, Forest appears to be on the verge of losing another player for the following season.
According to journalist Kostas Lianos, Olympiacos wants to keep Omar Richards for the 2019 season.
It had been believed that Richards will return to the City Ground after spending the 2023/24 campaign in Greece.
The £8.5 million 26-year-old has only appeared 15 times for Olympiacos due to injury, but it appears that they intend to give him another chance with the Greek side.
But he has yet to play a game for Forest.
Forest is now looking for left-back cover with Bradley Locko.
With Nuno Tavares returning to Arsenal after a loan spell with Forest, left-back options will become exceedingly restricted.
Bradley Locko, a youngster at Stade Brest, is reported to be on Forest’s radar after impressing in Ligue 1 for the team that finished third in the league.
That might imply Forest will enter the next season with Harry Toffolo and Locko as alternatives, with Richards remaining on the roster.
With Leicester City and Southampton promoted for the next season, improvements would be required, and a player of this level will undoubtedly deliver them.
