Liverpool will begin a new chapter under Arne Slot by travelling to promoted Ipswich Town on August 17, for yet another early kick-off.
Arne Slot will begin his reign as Liverpool’s head coach at promoted Ipswich Town, following the release of the new Premier League dates.
The Reds will play at Portman Road on Saturday, August 17 at 12.30pm, before finishing the season at home against Crystal Palace on Sunday, May 25 next year.
It maintains the practice that irritated Slot’s predecessor, Jurgen Klopp, of Liverpool having the midday kickoff far more frequently than any other club over the last nine years. The encounter marks the fourth season in a row that the Reds have started away from home, as well as the fifth time in six campaigns that they have opened against a promoted team.
Liverpool’s first home game comes against Brentford on the second weekend, followed by the season’s first big game the next week against fierce North West rivals Manchester United.
That, however, is the only major challenge the Reds will face over the first seven games, which also include home games against Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth and away games against Wolves and Crystal Palace.
Key dates include a home game against Manchester City on November 30, followed by a trip to the Etihad Stadium on February 22, and a home game against Manchester United on January 4. The first Merseyside derby of the season, against Everton, takes place at Goodison Park on December 7, with the Anfield match taking place midweek on Wednesday, April 2.
It continues the pattern that upset Slot’s predecessor, Jurgen Klopp, with Liverpool having the midday kickoff considerably more frequently than any other team during the previous nine years. The game marks the Reds’ fourth consecutive season away from home, as well as the sixth time in six seasons that they have opened against a promoted team.
Liverpool’s first home game is against Brentford on the second weekend, followed by the season’s first major game the following week against fierce North West rivals Manchester United.
