Carlos Miguel is expected to become Nottingham Forest’s first summer signing, and he achieved something noteworthy last night.
This summer, Forest selected a new goalkeeper, and the Brazilian powerhouse appears to be signing number one.
Miguel played for Corinthians in yesterday’s tense match against Sao Paulo.
The game ended 2-2, with Caetano receiving a red card for Corinthians in what appeared to be a nightmare for the referees.
Miguel was the focus of attention for Forest supporters, and his performance received some plaudits.
Brazilian media respond to Carlos Miguel’s performance. It appears that Forest fans might be in for a real treat with their new goalkeeper.
Forest are reportedly preparing to send Corinthians the £3.4 million release clause to sign Miguel today.
The wheels will then be in motion for the stopper to sign for Forest and join the ranks to compete for the gloves at the City Ground.
Last night, he was inspired between the posts for Corinthians and one save in particular caught the eye.
Brazilian outlet Terra claimed: “Carlos Miguel performed a true miracle to save a ball from Michel Araujo on the line, which could have declared Sao Paulo’s victory.”
Globo is often the voice of football in Brazil and they also delivered a verdict on the performance of Miguel last night.
They wrote: “He responded when called upon, made a great save in the second half when the team had one less on the field.
“He ended up receiving a yellow card that takes him out of the midweek game against Internacional.”
Michel Araujo looked to have won it for Sao Paulo when his header looked to be goalbound.
However, Miguel managed to stretch himself and stop the ball right on the line to preserve a point for Corinthians.

Forest must wrap Miguel up quickly
It would appear as though the goalkeeper is going to be a fan favourite at the City Ground.
Given that West Ham have been linked this summer, it’s perhaps a deal that Forest need to get done very quickly.
Miguel looks to have all the ingredients to star in the Premier League and at just shy of £4 million he could prove a bargain.
Forest will hope for some movement on this one imminently and it’s a deal that the club would be wise to sort sharpish.
Miguel was in the thick of the action last night and his all-action style of goalkeeping will surely see him quickly endear himself to the fan base.
