Liverpool have approached Juventus for information on defender Dean Huijsen.
According to journalist Mirko Di Natale, other clubs, including Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund, and the Reds, are fighting for the player’s services.
Michael Edwards, the club’s CEO, and Richard Hughes are in charge of Liverpool’s recruitment campaign, and it’s evident they’ve been in contact with the Old Lady.
According to the Italian journalist on X, the Reds had made touch in the “past few hours”. Juventus values the 19-year-old defender highly and will expect a fee in the neighborhood of £25 million.
The kid spent last season on loan at AS Roma, where he scored twice in 14 outings. Atalanta is also interested in signing him, although the deal has not moved beyond first contact.
Liverpool should sign a new defender this summer.
The Reds are actively attempting to improve their defence and are considering a variety of options. According to recent transfer searches (players connected with a move), Edwards appears to be hunting for a promising young defender with the potential to be a world class player.
Liverpool is willing to make significant investments on such players, but they will most likely refrain from going overboard. Joel Matip left the club after his contract expired, and the Reds need to find a long-term successor for Virgil van Dijk.
Huijsen has advanced through Juventus’ junior divisions and made one senior appearance. His performance for Roma past season demonstrates his great talent.
Liverpool have also expressed interest in signing Lille defender Leny Yoro. Manchester United and Real Madrid are also interested in signing the 18-year-old defender.
The young centre back is considered as a generational talent and will be permitted to depart this summer for a cost of over £50 million, with the Reds prepared to pounce if his transfer to Real Madrid fails.
