Forest could discover an alternative to Che Adams in a £28 million striker who Jose Mourinho described as ‘fantastic’

Nottingham Forest could discover an interesting alternative to Che Adams this summer if they are willing to invest some money at the top.

A new striker appears to be on the plan at the City Ground this summer, with Forest reportedly interested in free agent Che Adams.

The former Southampton striker is seeking for a new club this month after leaving the Saints as a free agent.

However, another English striker has entered the market this summer, hoping to get his career back on track.

Although Adams may be a free transfer, Forest have also been linked with a £27 million deal for Maximilian Beier following his outstanding season with Hoffenheim.

However, three years after leaving England, Forest could give one striker another chance in the Premier League this summer.

Nottingham Forest might be the ideal landing spot for striker’s resurgence.

According to TBR Football’s Graeme Bailey, AS Roma and Tammy Abraham are preparing to part ways after three years together.

Roma would be willing to let the 26-year-old attacker leave in the coming months for less than £30 million following an injury-plagued season.

With two years remaining on Abraham’s contract in the Italian city, a number of Premier League clubs are showing interest.

Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and West Ham have all been linked with an interest; perhaps this is something Forest could explore.

The main concern for Abraham from any side this summer will be his injury record, as the Englishman struggles to find form owing to fitness difficulties.

Abraham’s time at Roma has been severely disrupted, but he has still been able to deliver a respectable return when available, but there will definitely be a sense that he can still do more.

    Goals 37
    Assists 13
    Games missed through injury 51

Tammy Abraham possesses more promise than Che Adams.

While Che Adams had a successful season in the Championship with Southampton, Abraham demonstrated his talent in Serie A with Roma.

His debut season (2021/22) was his most productive, with the Englishman scoring 17 goals and adding four assists in the league alone.

seeking back on that season, it might provide plenty of motivation for any team seeking to take a chance on the 26-year-old this summer.

Per 90 mins Tammy Abraham 21/22 Che Adams 23/24
    Progressive distance (yards) 32.9 29
    Aerial duels won 49.4% 40.8%
    Shot-creating actions 2.74 2.59
    Goals and assists 21 20

    Statistics from FBRef.

Given Abraham’s ability to surpass Adam in a far higher level league, it demonstrates the potential a team may obtain from the Englishman.

However, any team that gambles on Abraham this summer would be taking a risk, since his injury troubles might make or break his success at whichever club he plays for next season.

What Jose Mourinho said about Tammy Abraham

During his career, Abraham has been able to play under some of the most successful managers with Jose Mourinho his gaffer during his time at Roma.
The Portuguese manager was not always complimentary of Abraham as he knew the 26-year-old had more to give.
But speaking to Sky Sports back in 2022, the current Fenerbahce waxed lyrical about the former Chelsea striker.
“Against Leicester he was absolutely amazing and at this moment I joke and say ‘I refuse to praise him’ because he can always do better,” Mourinho said.
“We have got into this situation where I demand a lot from him because I know he can do amazingly well.
“I don’t think it’s an easy decision for a young player to leave his club, his house, his city, his country and to leave the Premier League which is of course a competition that when a player is in its hard to leave.”
