Dan Plumley has stated that Red Bull is unlikely to press for any brand changes at Leeds United immediately after their investment was announced.
However, the football financial expert insisted that it will come eventually, citing stadium naming rights as a potential fascinating option.
In a contract regarded as “record-breaking” for the EFL, the Whites have had the financial pressure lifted following their failure to secure promotion immediately [LWOS].
“You can never say never in football, we know that,” he told MOT Leeds News.
“I believe it is improbable at Leeds United at the moment for a variety of reasons.
“People will look at Salzburg and Leipzig, for sure, but we must remember that both teams were in their early phases; there was no brand or name associated to Leipzig; Salzburg is different because it is in a lower division in Europe; no insult to Austria.
“With Leeds, you have that strength behind the badge; there’s a very distinct culture in English football that Red Bull must be aware of.
“I believe there are various ways they can potentially exploit that without changing the club’s name; stadium naming rights, for example, would be an interesting option because it has some breadth.
“There are ways they can do it without renaming the club and I just get the sense that is unlikely.”
Are there any Red Bull changes at Leeds United?
There would be an uproar in LS11 if anything about the club’s name was changed, and all parties are aware of this, thus it could not happen.
Stadium naming rights are becoming increasingly common in English football, and they may be extremely valuable for those involved.
This is definitely something to keep an eye on as Red Bull continues to work with Leeds.
