Former Leeds United player David Norris believes Patrick Bamford will remain at Elland Road beyond this summer.
The former Whites midfielder claims that the striker is still pleased at the club and that everyone around Thorp Arch want him to succeed.
Bamford has spent six seasons as a Leeds player, experiencing a rollercoaster of fortunes with both form and fitness throughout his time in West Yorkshire, and Phil Hay [The Square Ball] predicts he will stay.
“Bamford has had discussions about his future for several years,” Norris exclusively told MOT Leeds News.
“I believe he will still be there next season. I don’t think he’s desperate to leave, and I don’t think Leeds is desperate to let him go. He appears to be a nice guy who is well-liked by the fans, despite having an up-and-down relationship.
“He’s had these rumours before and he’s always stayed through it, so I do reckon Leeds keep him.”
Bamford expected to remain at Leeds United.
Under the surface, it’s easy to see why Bamford will stay with Leeds for a seventh year.
By far his strongest season, the 2020-21 campaign without supporters inside stadiums, saw him score 17 Premier League goals, putting him into the England squad.
However, since then, goalscoring form and injury avoidance have frequently emerged as issues, much to the chagrin of many at Elland Road who thought his glimpses of brilliance were fleeting.
Bamford’s reported weekly income of £70,000, which was cut by at least half following relegation, is a major deterrent to clubs pursuing an experienced and plainly skilled number nine when fit.
While Daniel Farke may not require Bamford as a talisman next season, it appears that his Leeds United career will continue into the 2024-25 promotion push.
However, with the club needing to balance the books this month and recuperate funds from player sales, there will undoubtedly be an openness to offers for the 30-year-old and several of his teammates.
