A new update has been revealed regarding Connor Roberts’ prospective return to Leeds.
Leeds have already lost three key players from last season’s first team, as Joe Rodon, Connor Roberts, and Jaidon Anthony’s loans have all expired.
No option-to-buy was agreed in any of the three deals that brought those three to the club, and Anthony has already declared that he will not return to Leeds.
Much of the attention this summer has focused on Leeds’ interest in re-signing Rodon after such a successful season on loan from Tottenham, but the Athletic say he isn’t the only loanee they want back.
Despite Roberts’ apparent suggestion on Instagram that his time at the club is over, Leeds are still interested in re-signing the £2.5 million Burnley player.
However, Leeds may have to be patient in their pursuit of the Welshman, since Burnley is still without a manager and has a large team to manage.
Roberts made only two league starts after signing in January, but he soon established himself in the dressing room.
A sustained run in the side could allow him to regain the form that saw him crowned Championship TOTS during Burnley’s title-winning season of 2022/23.

In his first interview after arriving, Roberts hinted that he wanted to transfer to Leeds permanently, but his lack of game time may have altered his mind.
As previously stated, it seems quite unlikely that Roberts would return this summer.
Burnley confirmed in their retained list that he will return to Turf Moor, and his Instagram post read like a goodbye.
He said, “Football, ey. Obviously sorry not to achieve our goals, but what a huge privilege it was to play a few games and be a part of this amazing Football Club.
