The national media blasted one of Nottingham Forest’s players after his performance for his country on Wednesday night.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s season may be over, having led his team to Premier League survival despite some setbacks.
Nottingham Forest may have secured their Premier League status for next season, but they had to wait until the last day to get it verified.
And, after a tough season, some Forest players are still unable to enjoy their summer break due to international commitments.
A number of international competitions will take place in the coming weeks, but one of the Forest players, who appeared in a friendly game on Wednesday night, has faced criticism from his national media.
Nottingham Forest star criticized following a good season at City Ground.
Although fans at the City Ground had to wait until the final game of the season to see their team remain up, there were a number of great individual performances.
Morgan Gibbs-White, Murillo, and Callum Hudson-Odoi all made significant contributions to an otherwise challenging season.
In some circumstances, Gibbs-White’s efforts this season could earn him a move elsewhere this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly interested.
Anthony Elanga, another player who showed a lot of promise under Nuno, has now left for Sweden to play two friendly matches.
However, the Swedish media were unimpressed with his performance in Wednesday night’s 2-1 loss to Denmark.
“The left winger rarely got into the one-on-one situations that he likes,” the Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen reported.
“Judged most of the time accurately, but didn’t have much of an impact on this game. Weak action in Denmark’s 2-1 victory.”
Elanga now has only one final game for Sweden before his summer break, as the Swedes failed to qualify for the Euros.
Anthony Elanga’s game against Denmark in numbers.
Elanga, who joined Forest from Manchester United in the summer for an estimated £15 million, has showed a lot of promise so far.
This season, the Swede finished with five goals and nine assists in the Premier League, trailing only Gibbs-White by one assist.
However, Wednesday night was hardly his best effort for his national team.

After a hard season at the City Ground, it is almost time for Elanga to rest before what will undoubtedly be another arduous season in the Premier League.
