A Nottingham Forest player who flourished under Nuno Espirito Santo in the second half of 2023–2024 has given him accolades.
After taking over for Steve Cooper in January, the 50-year-old guided Forest to another Premier League season and survival.
He now hopes to secure a complete preseason with his own team and establish himself as the team’s manager.
Espirito Santo may not play for Forest next season, according to Fabrizio Romano, but sending him on his way would be risky.
It’s evident that the team enjoys working with the head coach at the City Ground as one of his top players has now lauded him.
Danilo’s remarks regarding Nuno Espirito Santo
Although the head coach kept Forest in the Premier League last season, Evangelos Marinakis will need more from him the next year.
Danilo has made hints that he is the one who can bring Forest back to life, and it is obvious that he adores Espirito Santo.
He stated, “He is a great guy, he knows what he wants us to do on the pitch; he has a very specific style,” in an interview with The Athletic. He wants us to play forward and with an attack mentality, and he wants us to possess the ball more often.
Working with him allowed him to infuse his flair into our playing. In terms of how he wants us to play, we are almost there.
“Given what has happened, we have done well. We were constantly attentive and pleased in the dressing room. There has never been someone with a sorrowful face.
“The coach can only select 11 players, but we have a close friendship on and off the field (even among those who do not play). That has been at the heart of our successful performances.”
Espirito Santo deserves a chance to continue at Forest.
Forest appear to be in good hands with Espirito Santo as their head coach.
Okay, he committed mistakes while in charge of the club, but he was also dealt a particularly terrible hand.
He’s been forced to deal with a lot of incorrect VAR decisions, a four-point punishment, and half of his starting eleven missing the African Cup of Nations for a month.
As a result, Forest would be prudent to give him a full preseason to establish his authority on the team.
With the correct support, Espirito Santo can really get Forest fire, and hopefully the club won’t make any hurried decisions about his future.
