Liverpool have decided they want to recruit a player who could be ‘the finest in Europe’, and they are pushing hard

Liverpool are beginning to finalize their intentions for the summer transfer window.

Following Jurgen Klopp’s resignation last week, the Reds are preparing to welcome Arne Slot.

Although Slot is yet to begin work at the AXA Training Centre, it is probable that he is already thinking about the Liverpool squad he will inherit.

With FSG putting together a new recruitment team above Slot, discussions regarding what’s needed between Michael Edwards and the future head coach will undoubtedly begin.

One area of attention that appears to be a priority is core defence. According to reports from Saturday, Liverpool may have found their man in this regard.

Liverpool is striving hard to sign Leny Yoro.

Few would argue that Liverpool require a new defender after witnessing Ibrahima Konate’s decline near the end of the season.

Jarell Quansah has stepped up and will undoubtedly progress more, but the Reds cannot rely on the academy graduate.

As a result, they require some fresh blood. So far, potential additions include Eintracht Frankfurt’s Willian Pacho.

Despite Pacho’s talent, many fans consider Lille’s Leny Yoro to be their dream signing. Yoro is only 18 years old and has already established himself as one of Europe’s top young talents.

This has sparked speculation that he is set to leave Lille this summer. According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Liverpool is firmly in the race.

Di Marzio said on his website on Saturday that the Reds have become a contender to PSG, Real Madrid, and Manchester United for the signing of Yoro in ‘the previous few hours’. Liverpool are said to have ‘inserted themselves forcefully’ to acquire the Frenchman.

    How excellent is Leny Yoro?

If Liverpool can complete the signing of Yoro, it will make a significant signal to the rest of Europe.

The centre-back, who joined the prestigious Lille academy at the age of 16, has already established himself as a crucial player for manager Paulo Fonseca.

“For me, he will be one of the best central defenders in France and Europe probably,” Fonseca said of the teenager in November [ligue1.com].

“He is very level-headed, and there is no doubt that he will be a very great player.”

Yoro is no flash in the pan, having already played 60 games for the senior team. He may need time to adjust to a club like Liverpool, but the youngster appears to have the potential to be a top-tier player.
