Liverpool may listen to bids for Darwin Nunez this summer following the signing of Arne Slot, amid interest from Barcelona.
On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior writer Pete O’Rourke highlighted that the 24-year-old could explore his options after receiving limited game time near the conclusion of the season.
With Slot’s arrival at Anfield to replace Jurgen Klopp, he will evaluate his team and see whether the Uruguayan striker fits into his plans.
However, considering their well-publicized financial troubles, Barcelona seems unlikely to be able to afford a deal to sign Nunez.
This comes after Football Insider reported that fans were disappointed with Nunez’s reaction to Klopp’s farewell address following the 2-0 victory against Wolves.
Liverpool could consider proposals for Darwin Nunez’s sale.
Nunez made news earlier this month when he deleted nearly all of his Liverpool-related Instagram photographs in response to criticism of his form.
Slot now appears to be making a decision on his long-term future at Anfield following a disappointing season in front of goal.
This season, the forward made 54 appearances in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and assisting 13 times, but he only started one of the Reds’ last seven games.
After joining Liverpool from Benfica for £85 million just two years ago, questions have been raised regarding his consistency and skill in front of goal, with the possibility of him leaving the club.
With Barcelona allegedly watching his progress, it is unlikely that they would be able to pay the price that Liverpool will demand to let Nunez leave.
It might be a hectic summer at Anfield, with Mohamed Salah also linked with a transfer elsewhere after Football Insider reported the club would hold talks about his future when the season ends.
