Leeds United have received a significant Archie Gray transfer boost as they prepare to face Southampton in the playoff final.
All of Leeds’ work this season comes down to this Sunday, when they go to Wembley Stadium to face Southampton in the playoff final.
One of the relegated sides will return to the top division, relieving Leeds of the need to make substantial sales during the summer window.
Archie Gray will stay at Leeds no matter what this summer.
Archie Gray, Leeds’ adolescent sensation, will be hopeful that his boyhood club returns to the top flight next season, but despite the transfer attention he is receiving, he is expected to stay put.
According to MOT Leeds News, Gray will remain with the club regardless of the outcome of Sunday’s Wembley meeting with the Saints.
Interest in the 18-year-old had been building for some time, even before his senior debut in August, and Leeds acted quickly in January to sign him to a long-term contract until 2028.
The Athletic revealed this week that Gray earlier rejected down offers to join Liverpool and Manchester City’s academies, instead signing a deal with Leeds on less favorable terms than what these top-flight teams were giving.
Gray is not going anywhere anytime soon, unless a huge deal comes along.
It would take an outrageous amount of money for Leeds to consider letting Gray depart, but the midfielder’s own position is crucial.
He enjoys it here and is unlikely to seek a transfer, so Leeds has complete control.
Should he go, we’re talking about a truly staggering sum of money, and that’s only if we don’t win the playoff final this Sunday.
