Nottingham Forest have recently announced their decision on a player who earned £120,000 per week during the 2023/24 season.
The Reds clinched their Premier League place for another season by defeating Burnley 2-1 on Sunday.
Forest will likely have a very busy summer, with multiple events taking place at the City Ground.
Much of the focus will be on outgoings, and it was confirmed today that a number of players will depart.
One of the club’s loanees has now caused his parent club a major difficulty, with Forest making a choice on his future that does not sit well with them.
Nottingham Forest makes decision on Divock Origi.
AC Milan appears to have an issue with Divock Origi now that Forest has decided not to buy him.
According to Sempre Milan, the San Siro giants are desperate to get rid of Origi this summer.
They believe that his tenure at Forest will make life more difficult in that regard, and that his high salary are an issue.
Origi makes £120,000 per week at AC Milan, and given his lack of effect at Forest, the odds of selling him appear minimal.
During his stint at Forest, the 29-year-old scored just one goal, which came in the FA Cup against Bristol City.
Forest confirmed today on their official website that they will not be pursuing any agreements to acquire any of their loan players.
That includes Origi, which is far from ideal from AC Milan’s standpoint.
Forest has to learn lessons from the credit market crisis.
Origi wasn’t the only one who proved Forest’s terrible loan signing in 2023/24.
During the campaign, none of the club’s loan players made a significant effect.
Gonzalo Montiel was arguably the only exception, although he too appears to be a player who is unlikely to join permanently.
Forest needs to learn some important lessons about the credit sector.
It’s a market that might be extremely beneficial if handled correctly, but the club just did not make the most of it this season.
Lessons will hopefully be learned, and if Forest does sign any loan players before next season, they must be capable of making an effect on the club.
