Jack Harrison leaves Leeds United as Everton make an early transfer push

According to the Daily Mirror, Everton have already approached Leeds United about loaning winger Jack Harrison back to Goodison Park for next season.

According to the newspaper’s print version (21 May, page 56), Everton want to bring Harrison back to Goodison Park in 2024/25 but cannot afford to put him on a permanent contract.

However, the Toffees’ pursuit of the 27-year-old winger, who is under contract at Elland Road until 2027, must wait until Leeds determines which league they will play in next season.

The Whites meet Southampton in the Championship play-off final on May 26, and if they lose at Wembley, they may have to sanction another loan deal for Harrison this summer.

Will Jack Harrison depart Leeds United this summer?

If Leeds United defeat Southampton and return to the Premier League, they may have a clear advantage over Harrison and Everton.

Harrison was possibly the most shocking figure to leave Elland Road on loan in the summer of 2023, following Brenden Aaronson and Marc Roca on the list of temporary exits.

With no clause in his Everton contract to sign the winger permanently, he will return to Leeds, and the 27-year-old’s future is heavily dependent on the club’s divisional standing, which will be decided at Wembley against Southampton.

The Championship play-off final is worth around £170 million to the winning team, and if that club is Leeds, they will no longer be required to balance the books by loaning or selling Harrison.

Daniel Farke may see the winger as part of his plans if the Peacocks return to the top division, and if not, the German may set a price for him that will likely rule Everton out of the hunt to bring him back to Goodison Park.
