According to Football Insider, Alexis Mac Allister has no desire to quit Liverpool despite recent allegations of a release option in his contract.
According to reports in his home Argentina, Mac Allister has a £60 million release clause for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Real Madrid, the La Liga winners, are also reportedly interested in signing the midfielder.
Despite Jurgen Klopp’s departure, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that Mac Allister has no plans to leave Liverpool.
The former Brighton star is expected to hit the ground running under new manager Arne Slot when the 2024-25 season begins.
The 25-year-old is also scheduled to play for Argentina in this summer’s Copa America.
Mac Allister to stay at Liverpool despite £60 million release clause
Mac Allister appeared 46 times in his debut season for Liverpool, starting 40 of them.
The midfielder, who played in a variety of positions for Klopp’s team, had seven goals and seven assists in 2023-24.
He is under contract at Anfield until June 2028, having joined from Brighton last summer (2023) for a price of under £35 million.
Liverpool finished third in the Premier League this season, after their title challenge fizzled out in the closing months.
In addition to Mac Allister, Slot will work with Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, and Harvey Elliott in midfield.
