Leeds star who wants to stay at Elland Road is poised to leave at £25,000 per week

The footballer might be forced out of Leeds against his will.

A Leeds United player may be forced to leave the club against his will this summer, according to recent rumors.

    Leeds Summer Transfer Rumours

Leeds fell short of automatic promotion back to the Premier League in the regular Championship season, winning only one of their last five league games in 2023/24. However, Daniel Farke’s team might still make a quick return to the top flight this season through the play-offs. The Whites defeated Norwich City last week and are set to face Southampton in the final on May 26.

If Leeds defeat the Saints in the play-off final and gain promotion to the Premier League, it will likely dictate what business they do this summer, with some of the higher-profile names linked with the Whites likely only viable transfer options if they have Premier League funds to spend. Leeds, for example, are said to ‘jump at the possibility’ of re-signing Raphinha from FC Barcelona.

Elsewhere, West Ham defender Ben Johnson is poised to be available as a free agency as Leeds wait to sign him, and the Peacocks are also said to be mulling a move for former midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

Pundit John Wenham recently stated that if Leeds earn promotion, they may make a “very” rapid approach for Joe Rodon, citing reports that he may cost as little as £10 million.

However, the league in which Leeds will play when the season begins in 2024/25 may have an impact on more than simply their new players.

Leeds star poised to leave for £25,000 per week.

According to The Sunday People, while defender Liam Cooper wants to stay at Leeds this summer, Farke is waiting to see if promotion to the Premier League is achieved before deciding on his future.

David Anderson has hinted that Cooper’s future with Leeds will be decided after the final whistle next Sunday, and while the Scottish defender is reported to desire to stay with the club and achieve ten years at Elland Road, they appear “unlikely” to grant him a new contract if promotion is secured.

Despite the aforementioned allegation, Daniel Farke clearly admires Cooper and his efforts in North Yorkshire. Speaking earlier this year, the German praised both Cooper and the departing Luke Ayling as “outstanding”.

“They’re wonderful. Luke has played a lot. Liam began the first game and sacrificed his body to score. He now has to realize that he is only a substitute in the 90th minute. “Big personalities expect to play,” Farke explained.

“This might be a problem. They understand how much I regard them based on how they handled it. They are not 25 anymore, and this league is ruthless. Acceptance is not easy; it is quite challenging. But they are exceptional. “They give everything.”

Cooper, who joined Leeds United from Chesterfield in 2014 for roughly £500,000, has made 284 appearances in all competitions for the Whites, scoring 11 goals and assisting six.
