Mohamed Salah pays respect to Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool prepare to say goodbye to their boss this weekend.
Mohamed Salah has stated that he will remain in communication with Jurgen Klopp for the rest of his life, as the Liverpool star paid respect to his departing manager.
Klopp signed Salah from Roma for about £36 million in the summer of 2017, and the Egyptian has since gone on to become one of Liverpool’s best goal scorers, with 211 goals to his name, trailing only Billy Liddell, Gordon Hodgson, Roger Hunt, and Ian Rush.
Salah grew become one of the best forwards in the world under Klopp’s tutelage, and the No.11 is once again leading the Reds’ scoring charts this season, with 25 goals in all competitions heading into Sunday’s season finale at home to Wolves.
Salah claims his connection with Klopp brought out the best in both of them and has revealed that he will stay in touch with the famed German forever, as the club prepares to bid him an emotional farewell after nearly nine years this weekend.
“I think at first in the first call we had, the thing that stuck in my mind was him explaining to me he wanted me to come here,” Salah stated to Sky Sports. “And he basically conveyed to me that he was putting up a new team at the club with Sadio [Mane] and Bobby [Firmino], and he wanted me to participate in it.
“My football, he said, ‘I am going to improve your football and give you the freedom to do whatever you want.’ And then I said, okay, I’m going to come. I arrived first, followed by the rest, as you can see.
“We are here for seven or eight years together so there are too many moments [to choose] but I think winning the Premier League in that game, when Chelsea beat Man City and also winning the Champions League is a thing that sticks in my mind because there are too many emotions involved.”
Salah continued, “I always approach this circumstance as a human being. He undoubtedly enhanced me as a player, and I undoubtedly aided him as a manager; we assisted each other greatly, and we gave our all to the club in order to win trophies, as everyone can see.
“But what I take away from it as a human being, as a person, is that if I am in need, I can approach him and seek for help as a person. I believe we will continue to communicate for the rest of our lives. Because it is more than simply a job relationship; we will keep in touch forever.”
