‘Wonderful’ £25 million. Leeds target is currently in talks with two of the Premier League’s top six

Leeds United are still apparently interested in signing a Denmark international this summer, but his club has already held talks with two of the Premier League’s top six clubs.

Leeds will be busy this summer, whether they get promoted back to the Premier League or forced to battle in the Championship for another season, and a no.10 will be top of the list.

Daniel Farke was connected with several clubs last summer, including Nadiem Amiri, who traveled to Elland Road for negotiations, but the deal fell through. The Germany international has already commented about his aborted transfer to Leeds.

Kenny McLean, the captain of our current play-off opponents Norwich City, was also a target for Farke as the German manager looked to reunite. Leeds made a £10 million offer for Celtic playmaker Matt O’Riley.

O’Riley went on to win Celtic’s Player of the Season award after contributing 33 goals and assists in 2023-24, including scoring in Celtic’s 2-1 victory against Rangers on Saturday as the club closed in on the trophy.

Danish outlet Tipsbladet has provided an update on O’Riley’s future, with a move to the Premier League now expected for the former MK Dons and Fulham left-footer.

Leeds are rumored to be interested in signing O’Riley again.

The offensive midfielder was an option for Leeds last summer, but after his season, it was uncertain whether Leeds would renew their interest in the Celtic star during the summer transfer window.

According to sources, if Leeds are promoted to the Premier League and win the play-offs, they would attempt again for O’Riley, who is currently valued at more than £25 million.

Leeds will make a play for O’Riley, who has been described as “wonderful” by Brendan Rodgers, but the chances are that he has already outgrown the Yorkshire club, even if Leeds are promoted at the first try.

Danish reports now deliver. O’Riley updates ahead of the summer

According to Tipsbladet, Celtic are already in talks with two of the Premier League’s top six regarding a potential exit for the playmaker this summer, however the two clubs are nameless.

It remains to be seen whether O’Riley will be enticed to enter the Premier League head on with one of the league’s major clubs, risking his regular game time, after starting week after week at Celtic.

What is certain is that Leeds appear to have been outgunned by the Premier League’s giants before they even had a chance, and the Whites may not even get promoted.
