Nottingham Forest lawyer Nick De Marco can save the club two points in their PSR appeal, despite the fact that it appears to be a “open and shut case”.
That is according to finance specialist Kieran Maguire, who told Football Insider that De Marco is “the best sports lawyer in the country”.
Forest were docked four points earlier this season for violating the Profit and Sustainability Rules in their 2022-23 accounts.
The club quickly challenged the ruling and is hoping to hear the outcome this week.
Everton successfully appealed their PSR infringement earlier this season, regaining four points from the initial 10-point deduction.
Nottingham Forest’s super lawyer can save two points from appeal.
Maguire believes it will be a “good result” for Forest if they can salvage two points from their appeal.
“If there’s one man that can come in the 89th minute and get Nottingham Forest a result – it’s Nick De Marco,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“He is one of the top, if not the best, sports lawyers in the country.
“I believe if Forest received one or two points back from their appeal, they would consider it an excellent result.
“However, considering that the basis of the matter is Brennan Johnson’s transfer price, it will take all of Forest’s legal team’s persuasive skills to accomplish this.
“On the face of it, it is an open and shut case.“
