Ex-PL CEO drops Farke’s exit verdict following Leeds latest

Keith Wyness, Everton’s former manager, says Daniel Farke should stay as Leeds United’s manager next season even if they do not win promotion to the Premier League.

Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old, who was CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now heads a football consultancy that advises elite clubs, claimed Farke has been accepted by Whites fans since joining the club last summer.

Leeds are now third in the Championship, three points behind second-placed Ipswich Town, with only one game remaining.

Farke will be hopeful that a win over Southampton at Elland Road would be enough for his team to leapfrog the Tractor Boys, who just need a point against second-bottom Huddersfield Town to ensure their place in the Premier League next season.

Daniel Farke will remain as Leeds United boss next season.

Wyness feels the German manager has the necessary attitude to be Leeds’ manager and hopes he can oversee a quick return to the top division following last year’s relegation.

He told Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast: “I believe Farke has done well.

“From what I can tell, he appears to be popular among the supporters.

“I enjoy his personality. I believe he is a scrapper and a fighter, and he fits the Leeds attitude.

    “Hopefully they will be promoted.

“But if they don’t, I still think he would be the right one to stay next season and try and do it again.”
