Ipswich Town will “do the business” against Huddersfield Town and beat Leeds United to automatic promotion this season, according to Clinton Morrison.
Daniel Farke’s Whites are three points behind the Tractor Boys heading into the season’s last game, after Kieran McKenna’s side defeated Coventry City 2-1 on Tuesday (30 April).
Leeds face promotion opponents Southampton on Saturday (4 May), while Ipswich host Huddersfield at Portman Road, knowing that a point will conclude the promotion race, and Sky Sports analyst Morrison believes they will be promoted.
Speaking on Sky Sports Football (30 April, 10:04), he stated unequivocally that he would support Ipswich over Leeds. To be fair, they have performed admirably. Even when it was 1-1, you wonder if they have the hunger to get another one.
“But this team never knows when they’ve lost. McKenna deserves credit. What do they need? They need a home point against Huddersfield, and I believe they will win at Portman Road.
Will Leeds United beat Ipswich Town to promotion to the Premier League?
Leeds United have struggled at the worst time of the season. Following the March International break, Farke’s side struggled for form, and it appears that their three-match losing streak at the start of April may have come back to haunt them.
Those defeats to Coventry City, Blackburn, and last week’s 4-0 hammering at the hands of QPR made it clear that the Whites would struggle to beat the Tractor Boys to automatic promotion.
However, when the final weekend approaches, they suddenly have little control over the situation. While Leeds will enjoy their chances against an injury-plagued Southampton, few expect Huddersfield to spring a surprise at Portman Road.
Hopefully, the Tractor Boys will falter on the final day of the season, leaving a gap for Farke’s team to jump into the top two at the last minute. If not, the Whites will have to settle for a spot in the play-offs.
