Leeds have two games remaining in the chase for automatic promotion, with a trip to QPR today and Ipswich Town tomorrow evening.
A win in both games for Leeds would put a lot of pressure on the Tractor Boys to finish ahead of them, with three straight wins required to secure second place behind Leicester City.
Championship state of play: Leicester could go up, Leeds could be four ahead.
Leicester City’s thrashing of Southampton on Tuesday puts them on the verge of promotion, with a win against Preston on Monday ensuring their return to the top flight.
Leeds would move four points ahead of Ipswich before facing Hull City the following evening, who are now in contention for the top six.
Leeds’ goal difference advantage over Kieran McKenna’s side means that any missing points, combined with Leeds winning their last two, would be enough to secure promotion.
Leicester’s Marc Albrighton believes Leeds won’t move up.
Now, Leicester City’s Marc Albrighton has appeared on talkSPORT to discuss the promotion race, in which he believes he hopes Ipswich will join the Foxes in the top two.
He said this on Thursday when asked who will join Leicester in promotion:
“Ipswich.
“I genuinely believe Ipswich and they deserve to, they’ve been fantastic, some of the late goals they’ve scored, the never-die attitude, I just see them getting over the line as well.”
Andy Goldstein said, “Okay, good luck with all the Leeds fans.”
Ipswich will not make this matchup easy.
We can only win our last two games to increase our chances of automatic promotion.
If Ipswich wins their last three games, no one can argue that they did not deserve to be promoted to the top two.
Their season has been spectacular, and it would be fantastic if we could spoil that portion and derail the media fairytale story.
