FORMER LEEDS UNITED ACE URGES FARKE TO SIGN A PLAYER BIELSA BID £20 MILLION FOR

There was a time, not so long ago, when Leeds United was often associated with a man who is now chasing Daniel Farke’s team in the Championship promotion battle.

Leeds lost 1-0 at home to relegation-threatened Blackburn Rovers – honestly, who wants to play Premier League football in 2023/24? – The club’s long-term transfer aim moved the squad into fourth place, three points behind the Yorkshire giants, in what is shaping up to be a frantic and tight finish to a usually exciting second-tier season.

Adam Armstrong may have dominated the headlines at Southampton this season. But Che Adams, the Robin to Armstrong’s Batman, has 13 goals of his own.

The hardworking Scotland international scored his 15th goal in all competitions against Watford on Saturday, giving The Saints a 2-0 lead.

But, with his contract ending in July and Leeds once again linked with a player for whom they had three bids rejected in the winter of 2020, Farke’s men aren’t the only ones wondering what league they’ll be playing in next season (TEAMtalk).

Will Leeds United eventually sign Southampton’s Che Adams?

“For Leeds to have any chance of signing Che Adams, they’ve got to be in the Premier League,” says Carlton Palmer, a former Elland Road midfielder speaking to Football League World.

“Then, it’s the opportunity of playing.”

Adams, who Leeds attempted to recruit for up to £20 million during Marcelo Bielsa’s fantastic second season in West Yorkshire, is allegedly also on the radar of Wolves, who came extremely close to tempting him away from the South Coast last summer (Sky Sports).

Palmer, on the other hand, is skeptical that Adams will join Wolverhampton Wanderers, who may view him as a backup option.

    Wolves also connected again.

“Che will not want to sit on the bench at Wolves or anywhere else,” the former England international continues. But I believe that would be a positive step.

“I’d like to see him at Leeds United, but I believe Wolves and Gary O’Neil would benefit from signing him.

“But I’m sure there are going to be other interested parties in Che Adams because he’s available on a free transfer, and that would be a great bit of business for a player that has international and Premier League pedigree.”

Leeds, who HITC understands are interested in another out-of-contract player, West Ham’s Ben Johnson, are six points ahead of Southampton, but Martin’s team has two games in hand. The two clubs will also face off in what could be a make-or-break final day match at Elland Road.
