Latest Nottingham Forest news: Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City Ground.
Wolverhampton Wanderers held Nottingham Forest to a 2-2 draw at the City Ground, putting them on the wrong foot.
Morgan Gibbs-White and Danilo scored terrific goals to help the Reds come back from behind and lead 2-1. However, set-pieces proved to be their undoing once more, as Matheus Cunha equalised from a corner, his second of the afternoon.
Forest fought for a winner but had to settle for a point, leaving them only one point above the bottom three with five games remaining. Nuno Espirito Santo, the Reds’ head coach, said after the game.
Regarding the results and performance…
“I believe we did enough [to win]. It’s regrettable how we conceded, but offensively we were the better team. We dominated and had chances.
“Even for the first goal, we allowed Wolves to act individually. If one player in the box has an advantage, we let them turn – too soft. “The second one is bad defense.”
Regarding set-piece difficulties.
“We have to look at all of them realistically, and today the organisation was good. We should have performed better individually.”
Regarding full-time frustrations…
“It’s extremely annoying, not only for me, but for all of us – players and supporters. It’s quite frustrating. Aside from the need, we were better, therefore this is a squandered opportunity. It’s a tough one. We’re all sad and disappointed.”
Regarding the goals scored…
“The position with the offensive set-pieces shifted slightly, so Morgan was in the box and scored. The second was a good moment, an excellent assist, and a favorable situation. Aside from that, we had more in the closing moments. Wolves were always in their box, and we had clear opportunities to improve.”
Will Anthony Elanga be fit for Everton?
“I do not know. “I am not sure.”
Can Taiwo Awoniyi return next weekend?
“We need to wait and see. Individually, Elanga and Awoniyi are making progress, but they were not available today. “Let us wait for the next one.”
Gio Reyna’s first start with the club…
“He played well. He provided us good possession. He had good circumstances, passing, and finishing. He is a fantastic choice for us and distinct from what we usually have. “He did okay.”
Regarding Murillo’s season so far…
“He’s making good development, but right now it’s all about the squad, the club, and the scenario. All of our players must progress individually because we require the best from each of them.”
In the struggle for survival, “We are in a fight. It’s going to be tough one, but we’ll give it our all.”
