Paul Robinson believes Daniel Farke will push Rasmus Kristensen to leave Leeds United permanently during the summer transfer window.
Kristensen struggled for Leeds last season as they were demoted from the Premier League, and he has spent this season on loan at Roma.
There have been reports that the Whites will welcome the defender back at the end of the season if they get promoted to the top division [Graeme Bailey].
However, Robinson believes Kristensen’s performance last season shows he is not good enough for Leeds, even if they do want cover in that area.
“Daniel Farke will want to do his own thing with his own players,” Robinson said MOT Leeds News.
“There’s a reason some players aren’t with Leeds this season: they weren’t good enough in the Premier League.
“My point is, why would you bring back guys who were not good enough in the Premier League last season?
“Full-back is a position Leeds will consider, but he’s not going to walk into the squad, so Farke should be free to do whatever he wants.
“Farke has earned the right to do whatever he wants with the team.” Yes, you get the squad, but these guys weren’t good enough last season.”
Rasmus Kristensen, what position do you play?
Kristensen is extremely adaptable, having played in five different positions for Roma this season.
According to WhoScored, he has been deployed 13 times at right wing-back, making it his preferred position at Stadio Olimpico.
The Denmark international has also made six appearances as a pure right-back, twice as a centre-back, and once as a left-back.
Kristensen’s versatility to play numerous positions may come in helpful, but, as Robinson notes, Farke will prefer his own players.
If Leeds can secure a fee for Kristensen and bring in another defender, it would benefit everyone involved.
