‘Nervy’: Don Goodman calls out what he saw at Leeds on Sky in ‘Massive’ verdict

Don Goodman believes Leeds United has looked “nervy” and “unconvincing” in their previous two games against Watford and Hull City.

The Whites had to come from behind twice to draw 2-2 at Vicarage Road before winning 3-1 at home against Hull.

Goodman criticized both performances but also praised Daniel Farke’s team for winning despite playing below par, saying on Sky Sports News: “It was very nervy [against Hull].”

“The previous two performances I’ve watched from Leeds, away at Watford and at home against Hull City, were quite unconvincing. And here’s the important part: when you’re a top team, you dig out results even when you’re not at your best, which is what Leeds United did against Watford and Hull to get four points.

“Hull dominated the ball for long periods of the game, but despite their outstanding performance, they didn’t create enough really decent chances.

“Leeds needed to dig deep. I don’t think I’ve ever heard Elland Road so silent for long stretches of the game, so it was a true test of their character, and they got through it. I believe Daniel Farke remarked to the fact that the international break came at a bad moment for Leeds; for some of those players, it was their third game in six days after playing for their countries and Leeds.

“It’s been a difficult Easter weekend, but four points are really valuable for Leeds United. Daniel Farke, by the way, did an excellent job.”

Leeds United continue to improve under Daniel Farke.

Farke has had a dramatic impact on Leeds since his hiring last summer.

The German stated when he took the position that it would take time to develop this side in his image, but the results have come much faster than anyone expected.

The Whites are strong challengers for automatic promotion, sitting second after 40 games, one point behind surprise leaders Ipswich Town and one point ahead of third-placed Leicester City, despite having a game in hand.

Leeds also have the greatest defensive record in the Championship, surrendering only 31 times in 40 games, and only three teams can match their 75 goals scored.

Furthermore, only Ipswich has lost fewer games than their six, while Leicester has won more than their 26.

Whether or not the Whites receive automatic promotion this season, Farke has done an excellent job at Elland Road.
