Arsenal are interested in signing Morgan Gibbs-White.
Nuno Espirit Santo has stated that Nottingham Forest will not negotiate any summer transfers while the club is in a relegation battle. The Midlanders were penalized four points for violating Financial Fair Play standards, dropping them into the relegation zone.
Forest are one point behind Luton in 18th place heading into their home game against Crystal Palace this afternoon. To avoid greater penalties next season, Nuno’s team will have to sell some of its key players.
Arsenal are serious contenders to recruit Morgan Gibbs-White, and a figure of £50 million has been suggested. Murillo, a Brazilian centre-back, has also been linked with an exit for a similar price.
But Nuno has cautioned that no commerce would be conducted until safety is ensured.
He stated, “That isn’t even an issue for us. Given the current scenario, we will not consider player transfers. It is silly and a mistake. We don’t consider that at all.”
Forest has a good run of fixtures coming up. Their next four games will be at home against Palace, Fulham, and Wolves. Nuno is seeking for an immediate response after losing points to relegation rivals Luton last time out.
He said, “They [the players] were disappointed, but there was an immediate reaction to say, ‘OK, it’s in our hands to change this; let’s forget about everything else and stick together for these seven weeks.'”
“I don’t just sense it; I see it, because we collaborate every day. I see that dedication in everyone of them. That’s why we’re convinced we can fix it.”
Forest have been training at the City Ground rather than their usual training facilities ahead of the critical run of games.
“It is good for us to practice where we are going to play,” Nuno added. “It is the ideal circumstance for what we are about to discover. All that was lacking was the fans.
