Burnley tested their resolve over the Dutch starlet, offering £20 million to bring the 22-year-old to Turf Moor.
Given his lack of experience at the highest level, that was an enticing offer, but Leeds resisted.
While Summerville did not agitate for a transfer like some of his former teammates, the opportunity to join Vincent Kompany’s side in the summer would have been intriguing.
After winning the Championship by a landslide, there was hope that the Clarets would be able to easily transition to the top flight, and their attacking style would be excellent for the forward.
Meanwhile, several outsiders saw Leeds as a club in disarray as a result of its significant player turnover and ownership transition that summer. It may seem odd now, but there were questions about the Yorkshire side’s ability to recover quickly.

As previously stated, Summerville did not push to go, but we do not know his genuine thoughts regarding a possible switch. You can be assured that he is glad he stayed at Elland Road.
The former Feyenoord youth has always been a talented player, but this season he has acquired true consistency, scoring 15 goals and registering eight assists to send Leeds to the top of the Championship.

Furthermore, Summerville has loved the increased responsibility that Daniel Farke has given him, and he has emerged as a leader on the pitch this season, scoring several key goals.
Burnley’s Premier League campaign has been close to a disaster, with relegation to the Championship appearing certain, and many of the squad’s reputations have suffered.
It is critical that young players are given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, and there is no doubt that Summerville has benefited from a promotion chase with Leeds rather than a relegation battle with Burnley.
The attacker’s next hurdle will be to demonstrate his abilities in the Premier League, and he is likely to earn that opportunity with Leeds.
Summerville is already being linked with a move, with Chelsea reportedly admiring the player.
However, last summer shown that Summerville should not expect to make that jump too quickly, and his primary short-term goal should be to help Leeds re-establish itself among the top, as it is the ideal venue for him to reach his full potential.
