Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive: Alan Shearer makes Morgan Gibbs-White call.

Alan Shearer believes Morgan Gibbs-White has a “huge” role to play as Nottingham Forest fight to stay in the Premier League.

On Monday, the Reds were relegated after receiving a four-point penalty for violating Premier League financial regulations. They are now in 18th place in the table, one point behind safety with only nine matches remaining, as the club considers whether to file an appeal against the fine.

Luton Town are directly above Forest in 17th place, and the two teams drew 1-1 at Kenilworth Road in the Premier League on Saturday, with Forest grabbing a 1-0 lead in the first half through Chris Wood before allowing an 89th-minute equaliser. If Forest had won, they would still be ahead of Luton, despite their points deduction.

Shearer picked Gibbs-White to his Premier League Team of the Week based on his performance against the Hatters. “He will play a huge part if Forest are to stay up this season,” he went on to say. “Laid the ball on a plate for Chris Wood with a fantastic cross.”
